Don Quixote in his reading room, surrounded by the creatures of his imagination...
I was particularly interested in continuing the style of work I was producing in the Alice in Avenir series, but wanted to study the visual effects of using text as texture, so I decided to draw from a woodcut image by Gustave Doré as the basis for my next work.
I created the piece using the original text from the story behind the image, as I did with the Alice in Avenir series. This print-based artwork combines the text of Miguel de Cervantes' famous novel, taken from Project Gutenberg, with Doré's illustration provided by Wikimedia commons.
